Are you coming to the Winter school in Bloemendaal?
As a follow-up to the summer school, Welzijn Bloemendaal is organizing a winter school for children (11 to 18 years) of permit holders, refugees and expats during the spring break. The winter school is not an ordinary school. The school is organized in collaboration with the municipality of Bloemendaal offered to ensure that children do not experience a language delay during holiday periods. Children can thus come into contact with others. In the morning hours lessons are given in Dutch and social studies. Cultural and sports activities take place in the afternoons. The winter school is free and is intended for children who live in Heemstede and the municipality of Bloemendaal (including Bennebroek, Vogelenzang, Aerdenhout, Bloemendaal and Overveen). Especially in this time when schools are closed, it is of extra importance for these children to take lessons at a distance of 1.5 meter distance.
For the time being, the winter school will take place during the spring holidays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday, February 22, and Wednesday, February 24. There might be a continuation of the winter school in the May holidays as well.
Lessons at the winter school are given by volunteers from 14 to 23 years old who like to come into contact with children from other cultures. They familiarize the children with the municipality and help them improve the Dutch language.
